First of all, exams and my three years of undergraduate studies are over! No more silly midterm papers, silly assignments, silly presentations and silly notes to be memorized in just an hour before exam! YAHOO!! What comes now is total relaxation, more baking adventures and wasting petrols. That sense of liberation, it's very refreshing. It's like finishing high school all over again. Those post SPM days, where you walked around the house, saying to yourself, I'm bored, get me out of this boredom.
YAHOO! YAHOO! YAHOO! Let the rest of 2010 unfolds! :D
Anyway, for this post-exam blog entry, I've decided to write on my simplest and cheapest pleasures that you can buy for RM 5 or even much less! I can have these, and I'll be instantly gratified. Even in my worst, penniless days, I can scrape a few cents or two to buy these. But I have to warn you, they're not healthy foods.
If you want to read about healthy foods, you are reading the wrong blog. I eat cereals and grains for breakfasts, but that's about it. I'm all for deep fried food. :)
1. Nyam Nyam by Arnotts.
Haihh, kantoi I bought them at 7 Eleven. T_T
My favorite of all Nyam Nyam. :D
These sweet treats go back all the way to my childhood days, where I would buy a few of Nyam Nyams and eat them using my fingers when the 'spoon' provided broke into two pieces. Nyam Nyam was cheap back then, but now it's RM 1 per cup. I find it difficult to buy decent Nyam Nyams; either the dips have hardened up or the sticks/colorful chips/cookies are toodamnsoggynolongercrunchy! I still squeal a little bit whenever I see these on food racks in shops, and I don't mind spending RM 5 for 5 incredibly sweet treats.
2. Green Peas crackers
Of all the green peas crackers out there, this is my favorite. It's only RM 1.20 (certain greedy shops sell it at RM 1.50). I love sucking on the crackers before I chew them. It just tastes so old school.
3. Australian MILO
Check out how refined the MILO's texture. Much smaller than Malaysia's MILO.
You're probably going to find this extra disgusting. I love to eat raw MILO. I love having spoonfuls of MILO in my mouth, and savoring the melting moments. I fancy the smooth taste of this Australian MILO and how chocolatey it tastes. You can't get this feeling by eating Malaysia's MILO, really you can't. The texture is coarse, and tastes like sugar granules, with no chocolate tang.
I'd have a cup of raw MILO, and a spoon ready to scoop all the smoothness out. :)
4. Kit Kat Dark Chocolate Bites.
Although the manufacturer probably uses cheap courveture chocolates to coat the KitKat, I have no complaints. Being true to its tagline, I find myself truly enjoying a packet of KitKat bites whenever I'm just chilling at home. It's priced at RM 2.50 per packet. I love dark chocolate, and this is a rather good alternative to lush chocolates like Ferrero, Lindt and Hersheys.
5. Cadbury Chocolate Mousse.
Boulevard is currently selling large chocolate bars for RM 5.99, okay, so they're slightly above the RM 5. No, they're not expiring. They're just on sale. :) Ok, that sounds weird. Anyway, when I saw this flavor stacked on the chocolate section, I immediately grabbed two bars. Chocolate mousse?? HELLO. It's chocolate ganache, only less richer. For you chocolate lovers out there, do give this marvelous thing a try. The flavor is quite intense and rich (but still can't beat my favorite Hersheys' Semi Sweet dark chocolate bars) and it's on sale. Hey, who doesn't love a good chocolate sale??
6. Skittles Littles.
Remember the sweet, hand staining Skittles we all had a few years back? I can't find any normal sized Skittles packet since God-knows-when, so I buy this tiny littles for RM 2.00, if I'm not mistaken. Still the same ol' Skittles, you still manage to stain my fingers with wonderful bright colors. :) Still send me that sour shivers down my spine.
7. Vono Instant Soup.
I had doubts when this was introduced to the market. I had a bad experience with Campbell's instant soup, where the soup tasted like a century old soup that was stored in a musty cabinet. I had chose Campbells's cream of chicken soup that was packed in the tin, and it's much better than the instant ones. But, when a sales lady gave a tiny cup of Vono soup to me a few months back, I was hooked. Velvety smooth and it got better when she mixed the mushroom soup with cheese.
I love cheese, and the cheese addition? Awesome! I bought a few packets immediately. But, I try not to have them too many times in a week, because well, it's made by Ajinomoto. God knows how much Ajinomoto is inside each packet. T_T
I love these sweet indulgences, and they're cheap, well except for that MILO. One small tin can set you back for RM 18.90, a large one costs about RM 41.90. I like how they make me a tiny bit happier and a little less healthier.
By the way, I just discovered a new word today; HACKNEYED.
Go figure!
Graduation, I'm all for you!
