Last week, we went to Kampung Stass to visit my boyfriend's mum's family members over there. I also found out that Kampung Stass would be having a Gawai celebration later that night, similar to what Kampung Duyoh had a few days ago.
Kampung Stass is about an hour and 30 minutes drive from Kuching and it's located very near to Kampung Serikin, the famous shopping area for imitation products. What I love about that village is that, it's so dense with houses and people are so friendly and welcoming. The smell of home cooked foods were everywhere and BBQ pits were everywhere.
The village was named Kampung Stass because it has so many Borneo ironwood or commonly called Kayu Belian. In Bidayuh, kayu belian is called 'Tass.' Probably the villages mispronounced the Tass to Stass, hence the village's name.
Look at his expression. Priceless!
Cak!
I love this house. :D
Entering the mini museum.
Tired face.
Tass.
I did not go for the night celebration as it was raining and I did not bring any spare clothes to change into. So, I spent the night watching football matches at boyfriend's house before I went home at 12am.
